National Education Gaming Championship 2014

The CPL is proud to produce the 4th National Education Gaming Championship at Campus Game Fest 2014 this June Holiday!

In collaboration with the Organising Committee of Campus Game Fest (CGF), comprising the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) and the Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA), the 4th National Education Gaming Championship (NEGC) will be held at the Campus Game Fest 2014. NEGC is organised by Nexus, Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and supported by the Ministry of Education.

64 teams from various secondary schools, ITE Colleges and Polytechnics will be competing for the coveted NEGC trophy using a PC-based virtual simulation training software. The software, known as Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2), is used by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for training at the Specialist and Warrant Officer Institute. For NEGC, VBS2 has been modified into a first person shooter game. All students taking part in NEGC will go through a rigorous training program leading up to the tournament. The experience will not only help them learn more about the 3rd Generation SAF but also develop their leadership, communications skills, and teamwork. In addition, NEGC is a positive platform for students to make new friends with similar interests while taking a break from school work during the holiday period.

The tournament playoffs will take place at CGF from 27 to 29 June 2014 at ITE College Central. Featuring a prize pool of $9,000, participants and spectators can look forward to sensational tournament preliminaries and a finale over the three days. Visitors can also take the opportunity to play VBS2 at the game play area, as well as have their hands on some of the SAF equipment featured in VBS2 that will be on display.
