The Taipei Assassins (TPA), an underdog in the recently concluded Season 2 of the League of Legends World Championships, dominated their finals matchup against South Korea’s Azubu Frost (AF) 3-1 to land their biggest pay to date: a cool US$ 1 Million.
TPA was also brilliant in the semifinals as they dismantled erstwhile favorites Moscow 5 in a 2-1, while the runner-ups Azubu Frost was involved in allegations of cheating. Nevertheless Korea’s AF managed to come home with US$250,000.00
The finals game 1 started in favor of Azubu Frost, which actually was down in champions’ killed until AF.Rapidstar managed to score a quadra kill. It was all downhill for the Taiwanese LoL group hereon as AF managed to snowball their strengths. But it was different scenario the next three games however, as TPA won three straight games and destroyed AF’s confidence and reputation to win the top prize and the Season 2 crown.
The Taipei Assassins are:
- Stanley - Top
- Lilballz - Jungle
- AP Carry - Toyz
- AD Carry - Bebe
- Support - MisTake
The League of Legends Season 2 World Championships ended in style, as the production value of the finals almost overshadowed the scandals that rocked the event. From cheating to the internet going bye-bye; Riot Games’ should be pleased that unconfirmed reports have estimated about 800,000 concurrent users when the event was broadcasted over the web.
