The VP of Riot games Redbeard has released a much needed update to the stalled Season 2 playoffs of League of Legends World Championships.
To recap, the playoff match between Counter-Logic Gaming.EU (CLG.EU) and World Elite (WE) was interrupted when the internet bogged down, forcing the cancellation of the match as the live audience roared with dismay.
Redbeard posted in the official League of Legends’ forum:
“The conclusion of the playoffs will take place on Wednesday the 10th, starting at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. We’re going to be broadcasting from the same venue our World Finals are taking place, the Galen Center, and the players will be competing in a backstage area while we set up the main stage for Saturday. Players will be separated with no visibility of the opposing team. Due to the quick turnaround, we unfortunately won’t be hosting a live audience.
We'll once again be streaming in free HD on both Twitch and Own3D, with the same broadcast production features (player cams, replays, etc.). Casters will remain the same for English, and we’re determining what other languages we’ll be providing.”
CLG.EU and WE both agreed to a Best-of-3 match and hopefully no disasters strikes again. In comparison, Valve’s DoTA 2 The International 2 was held smoothly was generally praised for the presentation and quality of matches. Riot Games can only hope that their LoL followers will not be soured by this incident and switch to DoTA 2.
