CPL’s back for 2012! And we have staged yet again an event to remember for all the Starcraft 2 and League of Legends fans, as evidenced by the images below. Hundreds of eSports fans, cosplay enthusiasts, amateur and professional gamers gathered at the Shenyang Science Palace to witness The CPL 2012 Shenyang Championships.
The recently concluded CPL event held at the Shenyang Science Palace during the China Animation and Games expo on September 7 to the 9th was dominated by one super Chinese eSports organization---Invictus Gaming.
Terran Xiang “XY” Yao of Invictus Gaming won the Starcraft 2 tournament, besting seven other qualifiers to take home the top prize of US$2,000. The grand finals was a complete mastery for iG.Way, as he bested AgFox Roccat Way to the score of 3-0. Xingbiao “Way” Zhu of AgFox.Roccat settled for 2nd place and US$1,000, while Jin “Jim” Hui Cao of Tyloo grabbed 3rd place and US$ 500.
The top eight Starcraft 2 players for the CPL 2012 Shenyang Championships went through intense two-month online qualifiers against dozens of hopefuls.

The League of Legends tournament in CPL 2012 Shenyang Championships was dominated again by iG, as they beat the three other qualifiers without dropping a single match. For that incredible effort and LoL domination Invictus Gaming received US $3,500. MVP White from South Korea settled for second place and received US $2,500 for their effort. Team MVP White was the top qualifier in an online elimination that was held in South Korea by CPL. The 3rd place and US $1,000 went to OMG, after being beaten by MVP White in the Losers Bracket Finals.

The CPL 2012 Shenyang Championships was made possible with the partnership of the Shenyang Shenbei Government. This was the second time CPL had a major event in China, as the CPL 2011 was first held in Shenyang also. The Cyberathlete Professional League is considered the pioneer in professional video game tournaments, and have already distributed more than Three Million Dollars in total cash and Two Million dollars worth of merchandise since its founding in 1997.
