After 13 years of success in the Counter-Strike 1.6 scene, German eSports organization Alternate aTTax has decided to drop support for Valve's FPS Classic. In an announcement to their official website, Alternate has parted ways with their CS 1.6 roster.

The now former Alternate CS 1.6 team

  • Navid “Kapio” Javadi
  • Tobias “Troubley” Tabbert
  • Manuel “approx” Zeitz
  • Manuel “Tixo” Makohl
  • Roman “Roman R.” Reinhardt

Among Alternate's CS 1.6 achievements are the four German EPS titles, grabbing third place in the 2006 Electronic Sports World Cup and at IEM Season 2. The most notable however, is their first place finish in the World Series of Video Games in 2006. But as Counter-Strike 1.6 is now finally losing momentum, perhaps it's time for the German eSports organization to jump to CS:GO while it's just starting.

The future of the five German CS 1.6 veterans of Alternate is still unknown, and the organization has not yet given any indication that they will switch to CS:GO. Goodluck and hopefully you all will come back as CS:GO players!
