Jonathan “Jinro” Walsh long Starcraft 2 journey ends as he retires as a Team Liquid member. His was the first foreigner to stand up to the dominance of the Koreans in competitive SC2 by reaching the semis twice in GSL.

Jinro started out as a Broodwar player, his passion for the game made him known to Koreans, which dominated the first iteration of Blizzard's RTS game. When the beta of SC2 started, he became a fulltime member of Team Liquid, after becoming a moderator in their official website. Four GSL and two Code-S semifinals appearance later, he transitioned into one of the world's top Terran players.

Known for nicknames like “The Gorilla Terran” and “Chinro”, the relentless multitasker achieved success when he topped the 2010 MLG in Dallas, winning US$6.250.00. His total earnings of US$27,930 places him 49th in the career earnings list in sc2earnings.com.

In his goodbye, Jinro was uncertain initially about retiring but the months of heavy practice that did not result in positive wins took its toll. He continued on by saying:

“But for me, it was true. I was running on empty, and while I was making pretty good money, I was no NaDa. The day after MLG Columbus 2012, I arrived in Vegas… and I realized I was done. IPL4 would be my last hurrah. I knew it was not a decision to be made lightly or at once, but I brought up the possibility with Victor. I would say that IPL was the last time I played anywhere near good, and I made it unexpectedly far (yet not far enough to be worthy of note).”

Below is his finals game vs TT1 in MLG Dallas 2010 in which he won.

We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, Jinro!
