Four years of Team VeryGames domination in Counter-Strike:Source ends when it was recently announced that they have decided to go Global Offensive.
Their last scheduled CS:S tournament will be Masters Francais di Jeu Video this September, after that their focus will be solely on Valve's latest iteration of the FPS classic. This decision was not sudden, as their very own Nathan “NBK” Schmitt had earlier urged the CS community to unite behind one game, preferably CS:Global Offensive, to bring back the FPS to its rightful place as the king of e-sports.
Team VeryGames released this statement:
“After the enthusiasm for the new game from Valve didn’t stop in the last few weeks, it is now time for us to announce that Team VeryGames will switch over to Counter-Strike Global Offensive after the Final of Masters Français du Jeu Vidéo which takes place at the 15th and 16th of September.
Team VeryGames turns a page in its history with quitting Counter-Strike Source. Since its launch in October 2008 the team found itself quite fast on the winning street which it has nearly never left winning 43 out of 49 competitions they participated in the last 4 years. Team VeryGames has forged one of the biggest award list in the eSports universe.
The finals of the Masters Français du Jeu Vidéo which takes place at the Futuroscope in two weeks will be the last tournament in CSS for Team VeryGames. Despite a really short preparation time, our players really want to leave the CSS stage being the French Champion for the third time in a row.
Some big teams and players already announced their step into Global Offensive. It is hard for our players to hide their enthusiasm to face some of the CS 1.6 legends at the ESWC World Finals and DreamHack Winter 2012 in the following months.
Without any delay the team will now start their preparations in Global Offensive to qualify for these two tournaments and maybe even win them, which will determine the first hierarchy in the world.”
Team VeryGames are:
- Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans
- Kenny "kennyS" Schrub
- Nathan "NBK" Schmitt
- Cédric "RpK" Guipouy
- Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux
