Following the success of last year’s Shenyang CPL 2011, the Cyberathlete Professional League is again back in China to hold this season’s iteration. Dubbed the Shenyang CPL 2012 Esports Championships, the event will have Starcraft 2 and League of Legends in its gaming line-up.
The CPL 2012 will be held on September 6 to 10 at the modern Shenyang Science Palace floor, in conjunction with the 2012 CHINA (SHENYANG) ANIMATION AND GAMES EXPO. Preliminaries for both Starcraft 2 and League of Legends will run from July to August.
The prizes for both game disciplines is revealed below:
Starcraft 2 placing and prize breakdown:
- 1st – US$2,000.00
- 2nd – US$1,000.00
- 3rd – US$500.00
- 4th - 8th – US$150.00
League of Legends placing and prize breakdown:
- 1st – US$3,500.00
- 2nd – US$2,500.00
- 3rd – US$1,000.00
- 4th - 8th – 1,000 YUAN
The Cyberathlete Professional League is considered the pioneer in professional video game tournaments, and have already distributed more than Three Million Dollars in total cash and Two Million dollars worth of merchandise since its founding in 1997. The Shenyang CPL 2012 is a result of the continuing partnership with the Shenyang Shenbei Government.
