The Americas server got a surprise after a regularly-scheduled patch; players can now sell their gems, crafting materials and dyes in the highly profitable (for farmers) Real Money Auction House of Diablo 3.
Patch 1.03b release notes does not mention this inclusion to the RMAH, only a couple of bug fixes like the issue on the bid and buyout button now properly grayed out if a player has not enough gold. Good news to gem hoarders like me. Say goodbye to the errors encountered when you are trying to sell a Radiant Star for dollars.
I have not yet tested this feature because the Auction House was down for a few hours after the patch, but I imagine selling these baubles will not be as fast like when you are selling it for gold in the auction house wherein the transaction is completed almost immediately. Inc Gamers reported that the crafting materials that are normally sold for 100k gold per unit now goes for $0.40 while the Radiant Star gem is at $1.00. Not too bad, I suppose.
The Americas servers got the patch earlier today, while the Europe servers will get it after their scheduled maintenance this Wednesday, July 11.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed several tooltip-related bugs that were occurring when viewing items with 2 or more sockets in the auction house and profile pages.
- Fixed a rare crash with tutorials on item pickup.
