Resourceful snoops over at Battlefieldo have uncovered that EA and DICE are planning to introduce a “Battlefield Premium” that is similar to Activision's Call of Duty Elite service.
According to their unofficial but reliable sources, the Battlefield Premium service will allow players to purchase unique in-game items. The announcement/reveal will be on June 4---on the eve of E3.
Battlefield™ Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options.
EA CEO John Ricitiello praised Activision's Call of Duty Elite subscription service earlier this year and has been quoted saying “(it was) an example of best in class performance”. Joystiq also reported just recently that Elite had about 2 million subscribers; a money-making venture that will be hard to ignore for EA/DICE.
Would you subscribe to Battlefield Premium if it is modeled after Activision's Elite? Battlefield 3 already has a service which you pay to unlock all kits.
