After an intense of 3 days of competition, the 2013 CPL Champions are born. For the Defense of the Ancients, the newly crowned China CPL DOTA Champion is Team Greedy. For the newly crowned CPL SC2 Champion, the 2012 defending Champion iG.Xy was not in form and lost out early in the second round. 2011 Champion Prime.MarineKing made it all the way to the finals to face off with iG.Jim but was not successful to reclaim back the Champion position. iG.Jim played a Good Game and became the newly crowned 2013 CPL SC2 Champion. The 3rd edition of China – Shenayng CPL Championship in conjunction with the China –Shenyang Animation Game Expo 2013 kickoff on the 1st August with a grand opening ceremony graced by senior Chinese government officials and leaders of the digital entertainment industry of Shenyang city. As earlier as 9am, the general public and gaming enthusiast started queuing to buy the ticket to enter the expo hall to get the first hand experience of the latest of digital entertainment and watch the highly anticipated CPL Championship matches. For the DOTA competition, it will be an all Chinese gamer affair. From 10 July till 30 July, the Chinese gamer will compete online via the YY.com esport platform. The top 4 teams from the online qualifiers will win an all expense paid trip to Shenyang city to compete for the top position and a chance to win a cool RMB 50,000 and being crowned the CPL DOTA champ for 2013.
For Starcraft II, once again it will be done on an invitational format. 4 International well known SC2 gamers including the 2011 Champion – Korea’s Prime.MarineKing and 4 top Chinese SC2 gamers, including 2012 Champion – iG.Xy were invited to pit against each other to lay claim on the coveted CPL SC2 Champion for 2013. It’s here again!! The China- Shenyang CPL Championship is back for the 3rd time following its inaugural event since 2011 in partnership with the China- Shenyang City Municipal government.
This year event promised to be more exciting, keeping what was the main stay, i.e. the StarCraft 2 International Invitational where the top winners from the 2012 are asked to come back to defend their titles against 5 new Starcarft 2 heavy weights contenders invited to give a run for their money.
By popular demand and on request by the Chinese fans, this year the CPL will be bringing back the mother of the MOBA game genre – DOTA. A series of online qualifiers will be conducted nation- wide for the month of July with the top 4 team earning themselves an all expenses paid trip to the grand finals to fight for the top honors and to be crown the The CPL DOTA Champion for 2013.
For this year event, it will be held back once again at the prestigious “Liao Ning Industrial Exhibition Center” which have just undergone a multi- million renovation .

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) will be signing a Letter of Collaboration (LOC) to promote healthy gaming and digital lifestyle among youth by sharing and transferring expertise and resources through workshops and seminars, industry attachment opportunities, cyber wellness projects, and digital literacy. The signing ceremony will be held Wed 3 July 2013, 2pm at ITE College Central.
The first landmark gaming event as a result of the partnership is the Campus Game Fest (CGF). To be held from Fri to Sun, 4 to 6 Oct 2013 at ITE College Central, CGF will be the first large-scale, youth-focused ‘Gaming, Animation, Media and Edu-tainment’ event held in a local education institution, where innovation, creativity and digital entertainment are brought together with an educational twist. For the first time, the gaming community can come together, hang out, and have fun in a “camp-like” environment for 3 days and 2 nights. It is also the biggest Local Area Network (LAN) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) party ever organized in Singapore. This event is expected to reach out to 100,000 youths from Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) and the general public in Singapore. Co-organising the event is also People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM).
Sharing his thoughts on the collaboration, Dr Ang Kiam Wee, Principal, ITE College Central said, “I am pleased that the collaboration will bring together students from different courses and disciplines to put their skills and expertise to use, particularly for the inaugural Campus Games Fest. For students, it will be an exciting opportunity to be involved in a large-scale project, put their skills to the test and to do work for the community by encouraging cyber wellness and healthy gaming habits.”
Siti Norima, a second year student from Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Event Management), who will be involved in the organisation of the event, shared, “Being involved in the planning and execution of such a big project together with lecturers and industry players will be an eye-opening experience for me. I am looking forward to the learning opportunity out of my classroom.”
